14 years this July.
- I went from the lowest of the low and being pushed around and threatened to be fired for first 2 years, despite how much I did. - To the "go-to guy" because I knew where everything was and how everything needs to be done, but well underpaid. - To the "needed on all departments" for my input, but still underpaid. - To "reasonably paid" so that I wouldn't take another job offer.
Other than 1 of the techs here, I've been the longest lasting employee so far. What industry? I have 1+ year at my current position. (IT) I't's been my desire to have a career position to retire from since I was in my late teens. Some bad life decisions prevented that. Ironically, those feelings have changes in recent years and are now legal in many states. When I was hired at AT&T at age 46, I thought I finally made it, get 20 in and have some kind of retirement. 2 poistions later through no fault of my own, I'm where I am now, but the kicker is, I work from home, 4 shifts a week. I know I'll never be able to retire until I die or the lung disease dictates it. But if I can stay working from home for the rest of my working life, I'll consider that at least a second place win at life.

It will be 44 years this Sept I will hang it up at the end of 2020 and get to fish during the week. My whole career has been with one company. It was bought a few times and changed a ton but been there since 1975.

When I went to work for Texas Electric in 1979, the company was anticipating a big retirement from the guys that went to work in the 60's. They hired 6 of us as future replacements in `1978/79. Then in 1980 they hired 6 kids right out of high school so they were 18. Four are still there after 39 years and none of them are 60 years old yet.

Retired from Longview Police Department after nearly 30 years, but did not end my career. Promised a buddy when he ran for Sheriff of Upshur County, if he was elected I would exchange a shield for a star. I'm now two years into his first term and will probably stay six more if he's re-elected in 2021. With my pension from the City of Longview and payroll from Upshur County, I'm finally making decent money as a "lawman".....
