Went out yesterday before the arctic blast (was one layer and a pair of gloves from being comfortable

) to do a little scouting for the upcoming trips, and this is what I found:
Water temp at northern end: 55.6
Water temp at southern end: 53.4
Air temp when I launched: 68
Air temp when I got back on the road home: 37
Bait of Choice: Tandem rigged Thump Buddies in White Hot and Midnight Special
Best depth: Northern end = 15-18ft, Southern end = 18-24ft
Best bite was on main lake humps and points adjacent to the main river channel. Although we were marking more fish out in the channel, the fish on the humps were VERY cooperative. We would mark schools of fish on the humps/points, get upwind of said fish, then slowly drift with the current, keeping our baits close to the bottom. We had several double hooks ups, and a handful of two fish on the same line at the same time.
Most of the fish we caught were nice, healthy sandbass. We tagged four striper in the mix, none of which were going to be on the cover of Field and Stream. All the fish were either spewing milk or eggs, and actually had a good fighting attitude.
I hope this helps in your searches and stay warm out there TFF!
