Hey TTF,

Probably the best knot for tying braid to a leader that I've found is the FG Knot. Of course it may the more time time consuming and in depth than we all want, however some times best is more difficult. It is the one that I've gravitated towards.

Here is a not so quick video on how I've learned to tie it...check it out.

I have been using the FG knot for quite a few years now, i have not had a single issue with it. The knot is so sleek it passes through micro guides easily. Seems complicated to tie but it is not hard at all. There are many different ways of tying it on you tube.

I have not found a better knot for tying leaders. It's a pain to tie, but well worth it!
Great video too!!!

I have such trouble trying it, have tried a few methods, and have switched to the Shin Fukae knot which is much faster/simpler to tie and not really a whole lot bigger. But I would like to master that damn FG lol. Maybe it's due to my line being so thin (15 braid/7lb fluoro) I have trouble keeping it all together.

Actually I tied it perfect once, or so I thought, but the fluoro was all wavy when I tighten'd it down so I cut it out and tried again, but never got a good one again frown. I guess I need more practice time with it.

I like tying it the Mark Davis way. To me its a little bit quicker but with the same good results. Mark Davis Tying FG knot

What"s wrong with the reverse Albright? That's what we mostly use for offshore fishing.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

Agreed, when I found this video, I was convinced it was the best way too; instead of having tension on the rod, you use your leg as tension. An no holding the line with your teeth. I've not had an FG fail in a year.

I have enough trouble with light line and the crazy Alberto knot, It would be as messed up as a soup sandwich trying to tie the FG knot on the water with 15 lb braid and 6 - 8 lb leader.

Love the FG. It's the only braid to flouro knot I use.

I'm sure the FG is the bees knees, but never had a simple Albright fail me...

Agree 100%. Cant imagine trying to tie one in a 20 MPH wind. Just too complicated for me. Ill stick with Alberto. Thanks James. You are one of my all-time favs to watch on TV. Thanks for living out your faith in front of all of us. You are a blessing.

This the best way to tie the FG. I'm lets say closer to 73 than 50 with a bad right hand and this method allows me to tie it at home or in the boat. Used it for last three years and won't tie anything else.
