 Lowrance HDS 9 Live with 3 in 1 vs Gen 2 Hummingbird Helix Mega Imaging SI Gen 2

So I can get a Lowrance HDS 9 Live Active imaging 3 in 1 or a Hummingbird Helix 12 Gen2 SI Mega Imaging for the same price. Which one should I get? Boat is setup with Gen 2 Lowrance fish finders currently. Dont know anything about Hummingbird at all. Needs some opinions with an explanation for which one is better. Just not sure about Hummingbirds pros and cons at all.

what trolling motor do you have? If you have Motorguide go with Lowrance, if MinnKota-HB.
Lowrance and Motorguide are compatible, HB not compatible w Lowrance.

Thank! I’ve owned HB and HDS gen 3. Low ranch image quality is not as good especially sidescan. The transducer is also 12”. But I run motorguide and it integrates nicely with Lowrance.

Lowrance and Motorguide are compatible, HB not compatible w Lowrance. Not entirely true. I just got a MK Ultrex w/built in transducer and with an adapter I am able to run sonar on my Lowrance HDS-7.

Minnkota motors are available with either iPilot or iPilot LINK.
Minnkota motors are available with either the US2 transducer or MDI transducer.
Minnkota motors with iPilot LINK are only compatible with Humminbird units--it's an Ethernet connection.
Minnkota motors with the built-in MDI (MEGA DOWN IMAGING) transducer are only compatible with Humminbird units.

The new Lowrance LIVE with Active Imaging 3-in-1 provides a great side-scan look. It is the latest in technology and will take the new Sonar Live transducer coming out in April.
