I’m thinking about planning a trip to a lake that has docks. I don’t have any docks on Belton, Stillhouse and Granger. I need some ideas and the best time of year. I’ve never done it and would like to give it a try. TIA

You really can’t go wrong with Cedar Creek. The lake has more docks than you could fish in a day, the fishing is great, and the options are endless. I always seem to do best there mid to post spawn on docks. Late March through Early June.

Cedar creek by far. Thousands of docks. Launch in southern part of lake Payne Springs (free) or Log Cabin. 6lb bright colored line and 1/16 Oz jig. When it warms up and is sunny the crappie seek that shade big time.

Come join us at lake murval on on April 27th for our get together....you can shoot all the docks you want...and the fish will be there!!

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

What kind of water depths at the front of the dock would you be looking for as optimal for crappie?

There's not a certain depth for a dock to hold crappie. I've caught nice ones in 3 fow under docks but the ones I look for on the map are the docks that have the deepest water in that vicinity. If you're sitting on a flat of say 6 ft. water and there's a dock there that happens to have 9 ft. water under it then that's where I'd start and work from there.

To whom much is given, much is required.

I have done best on docks in 3-8 ft during that time.
