Just heard on the radio that it will be gusting to 60 tomorrow here on the South Plains. Have a club tournament on Alan Henry so I guess I will put some rocks in my pocket and tie myself to the main mast. I will report back (maybe) if 60 was too much or not.

If you live and Lubbock and can't fish in 30 mph then you might as well sell yo' stuff.

Just the short run from State Park to Sand Branch was bad enough. Most lakes if its 20 sustained I am not going out but on a little lake like Monticello, if its 20 but from the right directions, it no problem at all.

350 out of any direction is WAY too much for me. Normally (depending on the lake and wind direction) 20 is about my limit.

Today was a beat down. I missed so many fish because the line was a giant rainbow arc. Horrible, but fun.

15 to 20 is max for me anymore, when I was younger and dumber there was no limit. After many years of tearing up my equipment and taking unnecessary risks I to decided I was no longer that mad at them anymore.

I fish for fun and 15-20 ain't fun for me anymore. 20 mph blowing into the ramp makes loading and unloading tough especially when you're alone. I can always find something else to do to keep me occupied. There's always tomorrow.

Really windy today but I had the best day of fishing I've had in a long time. Hit the spot lock up wind from a wind blown point and caught fish on almost every cast for an hour. Then moved around and caught a bunch more.

I love this question and it's very subjective. Oddly enough I'm more willing to go out in windy conditions in my kayak than I was in my boat. I fished yesterday prefishing for a tournament on Lewisville. I think the difference now days is I'm more careful in my planning. When I had my Skeeter I'd put in wherever and just deal with it. Now days in my kayak I plan better and base my location depending on the wind. I love it when I pull up to empty ramps on windy days like yesterday.

First thing they teach you in Captains class is that if you can see alllll the stars and alllll the stripes.... Dont Go!!! Lol

Wind can be a god thing. Use it to your advantage.

Most times i find the wind predictions are short by about 5-10mph. So go ahead and add that to whatever forecasts you are seeing.

Find a wind surfing app....their models are more accurate for out on the open water.

Having said that forecasts showing about 12 mph winds are fishable anywhere. 18 starts to become difficult and a safety concern to navigate safely across open waters. (For most medium / large size bay and bass boats - and given that 18 mph forecast is more likely 25 on the open water.)

Learn how to use wind driven currents to your advantage. Although we tend to want to find total protection from the wind you can bet the fish do the opposite. They use the wind to push bait to them. Bait gets pushed and trapped against shorelines and pushed down wind driven shorelines. Predators hunt those shorelines and points.

Find that balance ambush point between safe boating and predator interception and the wind is your friend.
