You can use the ramp on Monticello to put your boat in but the lake is a couple of feet lower than it used to be. It's not easy access in and out of the boat from the bank. Like Frank the Tank said it's cold now. Haven't seen a lot of activity on the lake for a while. Not a lot of folks fishing like before. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Just different. Watch the stumps.

I don't think it is considered an "east Texas" lake but Fayette County lake produces 24/7/365.

I talked to a couple of young guys on a vacation down here this weekend that fished Welsh this past Saturday. They said the numbers were awesome but the size was lower than they had hoped. Said most of the fish had a very post spawn look to them. They also said the crowds weren't that bad and they fished on what should have been the busiest day of the week. Guessing the cold/wet day kept people at home.

Last trip it was a decision between Fayette and Bastrop... should have chose Fayette.

Bastrop rarely puts out any hot water.

Oh there was hot water, we just couldn't get many bites, not sure why, just one of those days.
