Well guys and gals, its been a few years since I've done reports for Lake Fork. But was asked by a few people to start doing them again, so here we go!

The weather has been a big roller coaster the last few weeks. Rain and cold to warm and sun, and back and forth. We've seen water temps as low as 48 and as high as 60. As for current temps and conditions. Temps Thursday and Friday were pushing a lot closer 60 and the bite was a little more steady. With numbers in the 10-15 range and a little higher. With some quality fish mixed in. Saturday the bottom dropped out as far as air temps went. And dropped the lake temps down to about 52 to 54 in the areas we were fishing. And yesterday they dropped again. Getting back down to 50.
The key right now is to find the warmest water you can possibly find. Even 2 degrees can make a huge difference. North banks and protected coves are your best bet.

Patterns:
Pretty simple for this time of year. Grass and stumps is what we are keying on. Baits we've been fishing in the grass are 1/2 oz. traps and 6th sense quakes in Retro Craw and Rambo Red. These baits have to be ripped to get bit. Normally we have found if we catch one or two in a stretch, we can go back through and catch one or two more. The other 2 baits that have been working well is the Santone Rayburn swim jig 3/16 in Acid Perch color and a 3/8 oz. chatterbait or Finch Nasty Thumper. White or Chart/White. We are fishing these where there are a little more stumps and the grass isn't as thick.
Once we find fish on any of these we have normally set on the area and worked a whacky worm or senko type bait. These have also picked up several bites on the warmer days.
On the colder days I'd really focus on the moving baits and just cover water. If you get bit, fish the area. I cant tell you how many boats I see just speed through a cove.

Also.......Congrats to my boy and old tournament partner Zach Hughes (Luke Duke) and Dave Parsons on their win in Media Saturday on Fork. The bite was tough and they pulled off a great 9.31 lbs. bag!

Hope it helps you out there!

Stay off of my water!!! Great report Sinkey. Glad to see you writing some reports again. I'll ping you when we come down next weekend. Hoping the ugly weather forecast for Saturday changes.
