As the weather warms up, you might add some flower to thicken it so it can withstand long casts. Save up your dryer lint and use it to thicken those runny baits.
Just one more cast!

I've convinced myself I need a field trip tomorrow or Thursday to Lavon. I'm assuming I won't be able to find shad so want to try a stink bait. I'm not really after a specific speices, just some eaters. I'll be bank fishing. Since I need it quick, it will need to be sold at a local retailer preferably Academy or Walmart as those are closer to me. Thanks a lot! Thomas You might consider joining one of the catfish tournament outfits, or at least attending an event... the tourney guys normally make/sell some outstanding types of punch bait...some of the best stuff I have ever used, some of them are even better/faster than fishing fresh Shad. Plus you can normally buy larger containers (up to 5 gallon buckets). Other options you have available are garden snails (for channel cat), or crawdads (for high fin blues), or worms. Personally, I have never had much luck fishing store bought punch baits. We always used to go to a slaughter house and get some cattle blood, pour it into shallow oven cookie sheet pan, add rock salt, some vanilla extract or anise oil, then let it harden in the sun...once hardened, you can cut it into small squares...works about as well as anything. Hope this information helps. Oh yea, almost forgot. I have bought some Stubbys cheese bait a couple of times...never got to fish it, though...my fishing buddy, Joseph always spies it in my garage and takes off with it, claiming he will bring back what he doesn’t use...never got any back, though. Guess Joseph likes it. Stubby for his part told me if I didn’t like his bait, he would give me my money back and take me fishing to show me why I was wrong. So, I may go fishing with him this year, and buy the gas/food.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna give Stubby's a try. I can get worms in the flower bed, I'm sure I could find some crawdads if I wanted to, but Stubbys seems like a great alternative, and I never have to leave the house for it. I just need 1. the warm to come and 2. the lake to go down another 2' so my spot is at the perfect depth. Just takes one day of great conditions to load up the freezer for a long long time.
