I through this board got to meet and fish with beltonbill on his home turf. This man has honed his skills especially when it comes to white bass on Belton. It took me almost a 1/2 hour to realize my tried and true techniques were not working. Bill instructed me on how these deep water whites were responding and then it was game on. We boxed 45 white bass and one blue cat from 10:am to about 2:30. The last hour or so was catch and release. Bill said we caught more than 100 fish. It was great meeting and spending time with someone that has as many or more diverse and lifelong fishing experiences as myself. We are both talkers and sharing our tales with each other was real special to me. Ask him about kingfish jerky LOL. Thanks Bill I hope to fish with you again soon...Lawton

As we finished the day by gassing up the boat, we accidently met schanz of "Dismayed on Belton". I had never met him and was happy to share info about why he was having trouble catching fish under the birds. It turned out we were fishing the same spot with the same birds working. Our day turned out great. It was a lot of fun fishing with Lawton and we shared a lot of fishing experiences. I suggested he come back when the shad were spawning and catch some deep water hybrids. The forum has helped me meet a new and interesting fishing sole who shares my love of fishing.

Was good to meet you two even though you ruined the rest of my day at work. grin

Actually we had met about two Saturdays ago under a flock of birds. I was the boat whose trolling motor went out and kept drifting into you. We ended up catching about 10 that day. I still think we were cursed on our last trip out. Even when fishing is tough I can always manage to catch a couple but getting skunked was just ridiculous.

Appreciate you taking the time to show me your setup. Hope to see you out on the lake soon.

It was good meeting you as well, although I was a little in the dark not knowing you and Bill had previously met. Just a little advice here, Bill, like me is a bit of a know-it-all, and that can grate on some that like to do things their own way. That being said it really isn't a bad thing to be a know-it-all, if you really do know it. Bill knows is stuff, and will suggest advice. If you are struggling to catch fish, and you see Bill catching one after another, then ask him why. His particular drop setup wasn't to my likes, yet the proof is in the putting. I caught a lot of fish with my 1/4 oz paddle tail crappie type jigs, but Bill with his specialized slab caught more than me, a lot more...Lawton

Who knew it...I have been fishing with a Dang Celebrity!!! We have been fishing together for years Bill uses a very scientific approach to fishing, water temps, wind direction, fish patterns, bait patterns, use of electronics and he Really Knows Lake Belton! Bill have fun on Whitney, wish I could have gone, but work is too crazy right now to take off. Thanks for the offer. Chris
