I have searched google and found a few sites that may help but wanted to ask you guys. Is there a go to site to be able to convert waypoint styles from one format to another?

For example, lets say I am looking at google earth looking at my friends hummingbird and the waypoints are in the following format: 11(degree symbol)11'11.11

But my lowrance carbon is in the following: 11(degree symbol)11.111'

How can I take the waypoint versions from the google earth/hummingbird, and turn it into the waypoint version I am using in my lowrance so I can see the exact same coordinate?

I have done it from google earth, dont remember the website but found it in a youtube video on how to do it. Save the point on google maps then convert it to lowrance user file. Try searching (using google earth to convert to lowrance.) On youtube.

This ^^^^^ or GPS Visualizer. Either one will convert from Google Earth. On google earth you can change format of waypoints in Tools then options.

GPS Babel

If you have Lowrance super easy. Just save all your google earth pins to a file then go to gps Babel and convert to USR

If you have hummingbird its one more step convert the usr in the hummingbird PC app to gpx I believe

Just like this.

Humminbird = 95*33.984 (33.984/60 = .5664)

Lowrance = 95.5664

That would work if you only wanted to put in a couple. But I put Hundreds of Way points and even draw trails to be able to run lakes I dont know via google earth so I save All my google earth pin drops to sd card and convert it so my graph will read the points

Go to Google Earth, then Select "Tools" , then "Options" then "3D View". Go down to "Show Lat/Long" and change it to the format you want. Save the Google Earth File(kml). Download Garmin's HomePort, its free and it will import kml files directly. Change the format in Garmin HomePort, go to "Utilities" menu, then "Options", then "Measurement" then "Position" towards the bottom, choose "Grid" then choose the format you want, Import the kml file then export it as a gpx file.

You don't have to have a Garmin unit to use the HomePort software. You will just use the software to import the kml file then export it to gpx format. I don't have any Garmin units but have used the software to convert Google Earth files although I mainly use ExpertGPS to convert the files. I sometimes use RideLeader too but is no longer available as a standalone software anymore. They have an online version now but you can't open kml files with the online version like you can with the actual software program.

I've used this one but haven't imported anything yet, so can't confirm it works 100%.

So if you only had like 4 waypoints that were from google earth , is there a way to manually convert them over to lowrance GPS ? In other words is there a conversion chart in place of downloading onto a card and uploading to your graph ? Because I am too stupid to do that.

You don't have to convert them, you just have to input them into your unit. Just go to Google Earth, Go to your file, Right click on one of the waypoints, Click "Properties" and you will see the Latitude and Longitude, write down the coordinates, click cancel, right click the next waypoint and do the same thing. Go to your Lowrance and manually input the coordinates.

Have a Blessed Day,
Mike

I have used this for conversions. https://www.pgc.umn.edu/apps/convert/ It will show you 3 different types of co-ordinates. [Linked Image]
