Born in Sherman, raised in Austin.
"How come austin and central tx areas dont have more folks on here we have the highland lakes chain..."
I'm new here and have been wondering the same thing.
Think about it! We live in an area of the state where you are just a short drive from some of the best hunting and fishing in the state. The Coast, south Texas lakes such as Choke, Falcon, and Amistad, and some of the best deer hunting in the world right in our backyards. You guys living in the metromess don't have a lot to do but ride that computer all day! LOL! Just kidding of course!
Just one more cast!

I selected but under protest. Fort Worth and Dallas as one?
sacrilege! I agree. The DFW megamess is the 4th largest (by population) Metropolitan Area in the country. http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/cb07-51tbl2.pdfThere's a fuzzy demarkation of the D vs FW side. You can sort of see it if you watch the reports too. The D folks all head to Lavon, Lewisville, and Hubbard. The FW side gravitates to Benbrook, Whitney, and Ray Bob. The I-35 split, and time it takes to get to the lakes pretty much encourage it.

My daddy always told me never to ask a man where he's from. If he's from Texas, he's gonna tell you; if he's not you're just gonna embarass him!

Howdy everyone. I'm new to the board, however I'm a longtime fisherman/spearfisherman originally from Brownsville, TX, was in the navy for nine years and that kept me away from texas for way too long, however I'm back in austin now and I'm ready to do some fishin'.

If your fly box smells like oil and has specs of sand mixed in with it you are from West Texas
At the end of your life you will regret more the things that you didn't do than the thing's that you did.

Amen, WTFF. I'm an Odessa boy myself, both parents were OHS grads in '64. All aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc. are from there and still reside there.
How old are you?

Maybe each region of the state should have been color coordinated. Then all you have to do is click on the region you live in (the rest of the country could have been the same color for the out of state folks).
