Fishing a slick day recently yielded some great catching including this 28" 8 pound trout! All of the bites came from waist deep water over a soft bottom. We were swimming the white/chartreuse Controlled Descent Paddle Shad at a moderate pace, pause, & start again. All of the strikes came on the retrieve and NOT on the pause. A lot of the fish hit it from behind and we really had to work to catch up to them. We kept a few for the table this time. 6 & 8 pound trout in the video! 30 pound braid. That reel probably had Stren on it but it became hard to find so I switched to some form of Power Pro. Either a 20 or 30 pound mono leader depending on conditions.

Thanks! What kind of knot do you use to tie the leader to the braid? Sorry for the questions lol I just moved to Houston and I'm trying to figure some things out!
