I am stocking up on mine right now. I just counted and I have 62 jars so far. Last year when Bass Pro had them on sale l bought $200 worth for $3 a bottle (the tall bottles). This year they went up on the price so I am having to go elsewhere. Back in the 80's and 90's I used minnows. Now I rarely use them. Power baits and jigs are cheaper and easier to use and catch just as many most of the time.

I carry some in my trout box. Sometimes they work on trout. Never tried them for crappie. I don't even carry them in the boat.

I am convinced they work. My experience after testing both with and without on same jig, same hook sharpness, same depth, same structure during multiple different tests over many different trips is...
I don't need them if the bite is hot and the fish are aggressive. Not really any noticable difference between with and without. If the bite is OK but not very aggressive, you can still catch without nibbles BUT when using, they will take the jig deeper in their mouth and result in more roof of mouth hook sets, and overall, i will catch more if using them but not by a huge giant margin.
If they are biting slow, the nibbles can increase my catch rate tremendously. This is where they are the most benefit. Fish that otherwise would not bite, will take the jig if it has a nibble. These are the times I really am glad to have them.
If you are fishing where there are no fish, it's not going to draw them in and make them start biting. If there are fish but they have lockjaw and no one is catching anything, the nibbles will not magically make them start biting. Your chances to maybe catch a few if using the nibbles are greatly increased though but not going to produce a stringer full on those days just because of the nibbles.
80% of the time i will be using them unless doing the side by side testing i mentioned above. One big drawback is they are hell to get out of boat carpet - especially if wet and gets stepped on or mashed into the carpet.

In your testing, have you found a brand/flavor that works better than the others? Are there any that are just a waste of money?

It is a last resort option for me...proper presentation, is the best option, IMO.

Saw a video about "Wizard Kokanee Killer Korn Dye". You take some canned whole kernel corn (with juice) and mix in some of this dye. It turns the corn pink and is supposed to be good for bluegill (bream). Wonder if it would work on crappie as a "crappie nibble"?

I use the Chroma-Glow niggles. Don't fish a jig without them.

Found some old opened jars from last year and they all dry out, is any way to make them usable? Thanks
