When spinning your prop by hand is it normal to have a slight wobble in the prop body or should it be perfectly round? I just got my boat back from the shop after it was hit by a car. I would hate to think they didn't fix it correctly.

I would say no wobble. If you were hit from behind on lower unit. I would bet shaft is bent.

They replaced the shaft... And they said they "fixed" the prop

You have another prop? Easy check. If two wobble, its not the prop.

No wobble. If you live near Mansfield, and need to try another prop, Ive got a spare you could test fit to see if its the prop or shaft. They may have tried to straighten the shaft and figured they got it close enough.

Yes, location would help. I have a spare as well that you could check with anywhere near Houston.

No wobble, Either check with another prop or pull the prop and rotate the with somthing standing very close next to it to use a reference to see how close and then far away the shaft tip gets to it when rotated.

If you accept it with a slight wobble you will be paying for repairs again in the future. Probably sooner than later. Good luck!

So I just called the shop and they said it's just the exhaust screen and that some are not perfect and will have a slight wobble. He said to run it.... I wish I new what it looked like before the accident. FYI I'm up in the Ft. Worth/ Keller area.

I would advise finding a new shop. You should not have a wobble. If your close to Lake Fork take it to Steve's Custom Props for a second opinion.

I agree. It will run for a while, no telling how long, but the lower unit will eventually fail as a result. Or the prop shaft will just snap and let go of your prop like mine did once.

Thanks guys. I just went to a different boat shop and spun a new one, it's doing the same thing but worse on a brand new rig. I asked the rep and he said that Mercury props do that and so do some others... I'm confused
