So, a buddy and i are planning on making a weekday trip, prolly a Sun evening/Mon maybe into Tues to try and do a bit of white bass fishing. My question is should be plan on doing this more into Feb? I am not sure when the run usually kicks off and how long it goes. Im not looking for honey holes or anything like that. I have fished down there a few times and have some places for us to try, just curious as to when yall think would be good with the run. I would like to get this planned as it is hard to get away for a few days for both of us. Thanks for any advice!!!

The run usually peaks early to mid February around Three Rivers. People have already been catching them...

If i was planning on camping out there, where would be the best place to do that? Our goal is to fish Airport Rd and around 99 possibly. I know that Choke has camping spots, is there anywhere else i should look into? Thanks!!! Looks like we will be out there Feb 10-12!!! Look for 2 priests in kayaks if you want to find us.....LOL!!!!!

I was at the Airport Ramp Friday. A group of people had their tents pitched right there at the parking lot. Said they had been there 2 days. They had about 20 white bass all caught on minnows with a bobber. Water was still murky, only 4 boats out there.

That's not good news!
Usually by this time the run is about more than halfway over and it can't be blamed on the weather as it hasn't been that cold.
Looks like all the fishing pressure the last couple of years has taken a toll.

Just one more cast!

what was the water level in the river like? compared to last year?

and I hope that's not the case Jimbo, but you're right, there's been a lot of pressure...

Level was a little high compared to last year. I was watching my depth finder and there are some spots that are only 3' deep right now not to far from the airport launch. If the river recedes even 1 foot boats are going to have a problem getting to the rapids. The gravel bar is still there right before the right hand turn you
make at the rapids.

Hello does anyone know if there is enough water to launch a kayak at the Daughtrey Wildlife Management area or the San Miguel.

welcome to the TFF sws210 the Daughtry wildlife area has been closed for at least 5 years. The gate is locked right off 3445 so there is no access. The san Miguel was just a trickle in December.

So, now that my trip is almost upon us, has anyone heard the state of the river around Airport Rd? For instance water levels and clarity? I did notice on my weather app that there is rain chances on Sat, Sun and Monday, 30% each day. Also, how is the water at the bridge at 99? We plan on camping at Choke Canyon and driving out to do the fishing each day. Thanks!!!

My wife and I put in yesterday at the 99 bridge launch. Water is high, but clear. We couldnt get there until after noon, and the bite was off. Trolling small ratltraps, we managed enough whites over 12 inches for a couple dinners, but it took us four hours to do so, and we threw back at least as many dinks. We actually did better than other guys I spoke with at the ramp. If I were to go back today, Id use deep divers. We marked a lot of fish at ten-eighteen feet.

Am i right to assume that due to this cold snap coming in and chances of rain that the fish will probably be found in deeper water? I can usually pattern catfish fairly well, but have only fished for whites a few times so not sure how this weather is going to affect them.
