Downsize on the baits you're using.
That's my suggestion.

Before I moved to the S.A. area, that was my home lake. Miss me some Lewyville frown And Sneaky Petes frown And the party cove on Memorial Day frown
Well not really party cove on Memorial Day. But I did like to look cyclop

This time of year the fish move very slowly. You are seeing sand bass at that depth. Look at the sand bass forum and use dead sticking.

I would like to know. Been fishing it for almost a year and caught nada. I mostly fish the south/west branch, maybe that's my problem.

Caught one dead sticking Sunday. I'm sure we could have caught more if we jumped around a bit. All in about 50' suspended at 40-25'

My suggestion is to wait about a month.

Starting around mid March there are crappie on the 720 bridge and the toll bridge in increasing numbers.Around mid April when the white bass are back in the main lake and putting on the feed bag they are at the west cut in the old dam in huge numbers. You will know it is on when you see a group of fisherman on the east bank (get there by boat) and in waders loading up. There will also be a few dedicated souls that walk out on the dam from the Garza Lane access. The ones who can cast out far enough have pretty decent stringers but the good spots on the point are limited. The dam usally holds a wide variety of fish. I generally throw lipless or medium cranks along the dam after the spawn when I want to catch a few bass. As for this time of the year I have no idea where they are. In late May or early June catfish spawn in big numbers along the main dam and they feed pretty well. Check if they are there and then used bait suspended on a float. Bank fishermen do pretty well in early spring at Cottonwood Park on whites and they occasional hybrid but the window is pretty narrow in mid spring. Catfish are there also.

Thanks for the information. I hit the lake again today with my son, still no luck. I try to stay on the south west branch of the lake, we we haven't caught a thing. It might be too cold but the fish finder is spotting them, just can't get them to bite.
