Treated myself to a fish finder for Christmas. I've been trying it out, and on more occasions than not, I've marked very few fish compared to water covered. Water temps have been in the low to mid 40's and I know there are fish in these lakes. I guess my question is should I be looking for fish right now or concerned that I'm not seeing many? My unit is a Garmin, and I'm using the mapping function along with the sonar so I don't feel like it's a waste of time. Just wondering if now's not a good time to be worried about seeing or not seeing fish? If not, other than mapping, anything else I should be looking for?

Thanks for any insights!

In my spare time I get on youtube and search Lowrance tutorials in my case. You can learn a lot on there and not waste valuable fishing time.

It's only a good cast if you catch a fish...
