I am currently a student at UTA and I am looking for other students that might be interested in restarting the school bass club and a few people that may also be interested in fishing the flw yeti college series this upcoming season.

If you fish on Pool, I have a 20 ft center console I'd be will to take you out. Not the best fisherman in the world, but I do have a boat and graphs.

You will need a sponsor. You will find UTA is not very accommodating or they were not so back when they fished before.
I would try to find out the rules and educate them on how it works. Maybe get ahold of some other university team and help UTA to learn how the sport works. My daughter Tiffany helped start the club back in 2008(?). They had a great bunch of fishermen back then although not a large club. They did pretty well.
Good luck. Its getting very competitive. David

Good luck!
We once had the UTA club going.... but they wouldn't support us at all. We got told "the prior folks in the club, let it fail," so we had to start from scratch. We tried to fish the FLW deal a couple years, but it seemed there was no interest. The school WILL NOT provide any funding. Me and a couple other guys held a tourney at squaw to raise money, that gave us enough for all of us to have a few dollars for our Rayburn trip. We had 3 boats and 6 guys. We all worked, went to school, paid for our own boats equipment and lodging etc. It was tough to compete against some of these schools who provide endless dollars to their clubs.
Not trying to discourage you, I hope you get it going and win, just sharing my experience with UTA's club department.

They have a new person in charge of sports clubs and uta and have already been told that funding for the first year will be very minimal but after we have an established club they will be funding us but they will not give us more then we earn ourselves. So they will match funding up to a certain amount

I started the first club in 2008. We probably had 10 members at our largest. There was NO support from UTA. They put up some obstacles that did not mesh well with tournament fishing and refused to budge on them despite what anyone said in our favor. Check up and see what the current rules are for UTA clubs. Specifically, see if their rules about all team members traveling in the same vehicle and only between the hours of 7AM-7PM are still in place. Those were the 2 big ones that caused issues for us.
In regards to getting new membership, we mostly used fliers around the school. They had to be approved by UTA before you could post them. Social media wasn't as organized in 2008 as it is now so if there are good campus platforms online, I'd look into what you need to do to advertise there.
If C. Wayne Nolan is still around, try getting in touch with him. He provided a lot of support and fishing advise.

I follow and support the Texas A&M team, and they are on a big donation/funding drive as well right now (they are all self-funded and disadvantaged against a lot of the southern clubs that do get support from their respective universities). Just passing along as its tough even for schools that have been at it a while, have won a National Championship before etc.

The only thing we are lacking is members we don't need people that want to fish tournaments all the time just need a few people to come fishing with us for our meetings every once in awhile. Because the school requires a specific number of members. .
