So I just purchased a used boat that has 3 Onix 10 units networked. My old boat I just sold had 2 Helix 9 mega si g2n units. After a few times on the water I'm scratching my head wondering what I should do. The maps share and advanced networking on the Onix units is really nice. However, I guess I never realized just how superior the Mega side imaging was to the older technology on the Onix. I spent all day trying to tune the SI on the Onix units and never got it anywhere near the clarity that my helix 9 had. Trying to tune the unit on some known brush piles and had I not known they were there I would have never found them. So I'm trying to decide where to head from here. Here are the questions:

1. If I buy a solix unit with mega imaging would I be able to install the Solix Transducer on the transom and share it with an Onix 10 I also have at the console?

2. Is the power draw of the Solix 10 the same as the power draw from the Onix 10? I already have to conserve power on tournament days.

3. If I decide to get rid of one Onix unit and just install a new helix unit at the bow what information can be shared on the nework and what type of adapter cable do I need to add the Helix to the network?

Thanks in advance

1. Yes for a first generation SOLIX
BUT if you have current software on the SOLIX (3.360), nothing is shared between them. The ONIX got left behind when the first generation SOLIX was changed to match the G2 SOLIX

2. Both require a 5A fuse

3. They will only share waypoints. The Helix needs the AS EC QDE Ethernet adapter for the Ethernet cable connection.

So a Solix with the current software will not share any data whatsoever (waypoints, maps, etc) with the Onix units?

Correct, you would need a Gen 1 Solix with a software version of 3.300 or older to network. Then you can network everything to an Onix

Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it. One more question. If I put a helix at the console and mount the helix transducer on the opposite side of my jack plate from the onix transducer will that cause interference issues? Not real worried about that since I can always turn one transducer off, but still curious.

Any two units broadcasting on the same frequency/s at the same time will cross-talk when their sonar pulses overlap, even on different boats near each other. It's a sure thing with both transducers at the transom. Side Imaging will cross-talk between units hundreds of feet apart.

You can use different frequencies and be OK.

This is 360 on another boat doing the cross-talk thing to my 360:
