Is there a reason you are cleaning your livewells? I get it if something spills in there or a boat shop fills them by accident on their test tank, but I’ve never cleaned my livewells and I didnt Lose a single fish last year and have only lost 3 or 4 the last 5 years. I’m no pro, but my livewells saw a lot of fish last year I can promise you

livewells are like plumbing, self cleaning. that's why they have filter screens, just keep them clean.

I would caution against using ANY soap or bleach. Soap residue will kill fish in a snap. And it doesn't take much.
Those who are using it, must either be rinsing VERY well and thoroghly drying .... or they never put live fish in them.
Lost fish for several trips, until I read about it here sometime ago.
I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us. Hopper

I clean mine when I get a sick or sickly looking fish in it, during a T. One that is very thin and has open soars on it. There USED to be a flesh eating bacteria that got in them in the late 80's or early 90's. I think that has been taken care of, but I caution on the side of conservative side on cleaning my livewells. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

OH, the bleach also kills zebra mussels, too.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Ive had boats for 30 years and have never cleaned out a livewell. I'm pretty picky about my boat as far as cleaning etc. But just don't see any reason to do that. Plus I'm scared the residual chemicals will kill my fish.

I'll wet vac mine once it is drained out to get those fish scales, etc. Might rinse it out with the hose and make sure i recirculate lake water through it for 15 minutes before putting fish in it.
