I have a Solix 12 and while I was on the water last September, the depth went crazy. In 16 feet of water (per another unit on the boat) the Solix showed 1409 feet of water. I called Humminbird and they said it would be fixed in the next software update. I haven't had my boat in the water again until today. This morning I updated to the latest software but I am still having the exact same issue. The only way I can get a bottom reading at all is to max out the sensitivity. It is the same on Side Imaging, 2D and Down Imaging. While on the lake today, I restored factory defaults about 3-4 times, restored sonar settings twice. Nothing worked. My unit messed up on the second day I had ever used it! I bet it had no more than 8-10 total hours on it. I tried calling customer service, but of course they are closed on the weekends. Any suggestions?

I installed 3.360 and have verified that 3.360 shows as the software version that is running.

Have you tried to turn all global setting to off. Turn all auto configs off. Set depth 1 to the selected transducer. Turn depth 2 to off.

I plan to go to lake Fork tomorrow mid-day and I will try everything you suggested. I will call Humminbird customer service from the water so I will be able to test any settings they suggest.

I went to Lake Fork this morning and was still having the same issues. Tried everything that was suggested here. I called Humminbird technical support. After over an hour on the phone with them we decided the best thing to do is just send it back to Humminbird. I just dropped it off at UPS, hopefully they'll turn it around pretty quick.

Here is the note I sent to Humminbird with the unit.

My Humminbird Solix started giving depth readings that were way off the second time I used it, which was in September 2018. I called Humminbird and they informed me that the issue would be fixed with the next software update. This past Saturday I finally was able to go fishing for the 3rd time since owning the Solix, so I updated the software to 2.360 However, it now will set the max range at roughly 400’ to 1200’ when I am in a lake 20’-50’ deep. If I set the max depth to 60’, then I can see the bottom, although I have to adjust the sensitivity to about 18 out of 20. When in 2D, I can only get a bottom image if sensitivity is about 20, and it’s better in the lower frequencies. In Down Imaging it must be at about 16 of 20, and the same sensitivity setting in Side Imaging. Both SI and 2D are almost black unless the sensitivity is cranked way up. I also noticed that in SI mode, the left side only shows around 40’ but nothing out to 100’ unless sensitivity is almost maxed out, however the right side shows something all the way to 100’. I can also see “pulses” in the SI data, it appears to be about 1/32” wine bands followed by about 1/32” of a narrower band, repeating all a over the screen. I have noticed that most, or all, modes work better in non-MEGA frequencies.

They were initially going to send me a new transducer, but I would rather be without the unit for 10 days now and be sure it was working when I get it back. I also think the problem is with the Solix head unit.

I received a notice from UPS that my Solix was delivered to Humminbird yesterday around noon. I just called to check on it and they said it had been repaired, with a new circuit board. The transducer was fine, no repair needed on it. They should be on the way back to me this afternoon or tomorrow.

Awesome - 'bird definitely has a good CS reputation. Lowrance probably does as well tbh - I do know they were king when Linda was still there.

It looks like the shipping department had dropped the ball. When I called back yesterday to get the tracking number, I was told it hadn't been shipped yet and everyone on the floor had already gone for the weekend. I was impressed by the repair department, but disappointed in the shipping department.
