USA-1 loves to add his spin to everything I say about bowfishing.

For the record, I will state my objection is not to the method of harvest or in simple terms, If you want to shoot a fish, go ahead.

My objection is the waste issue, the lack of sportsmenship when fish are harvested and trashed. The breaking of the law when they leave them on the bank and floating in the water or in this case, hang up in trees (granted I have no proof that it was a bowfisherman)

Now If you're a bowfishermen who eats or gives away to someone who will eat every fish you shoot, else you shoot only enough to bait a trotline with cut bait, then I have no problem or objection to your sport. I can only hope to educate you to preserve trophy fish for brood stock and consume smaller fish.

So if you are a bowfisherman of the later description, you have my support.

Now since this thread is about picture posting, I do not undrstand why this picture is bad for TFF when most of us openly speak out against such a thing.

Anyone looking in would see the pic and read how disgusted we are by such an act.

Bad for TFF, I think not. Rather it shows how much we object to such despicable acts.

Just out of curiosity, did you have to send USA-1 a copy, or did he already have some?
bolt
That was a joke, USA-1.
Like you posted earlier.

Easy, according to somethingsmellsfishey that is slander and a very serious accusation that is illegal!!! Someone take a screenshot!! smile

Funny thing is when everyone was accusing the bowfishers of all this stuff none of the people that bowfish were on here screaming legal action, they were just trying to get everyone else off their back. I commend yall on that.

We do alot of joking and picking on each other here, the bass guys and the rough fish guys have had some epic battles on the forum and our moderators are just doing what they have to do to keep order. Bob and Mark both do a great job of keeping all of us in check, lets not make this about them or about our forum rules.

Lay off the bowfishers!!!

OK GUYS, HERE IS A REAL QUESTION, SINCE BOWFISHING FOR CATS IS NOW LEGAL AND THEY ARE BETTER AT THE DINNER TABLE WHY DO WE KEEP SEEING CARP AT THE LAKE FLOATING WITH HOLES SHOT THREW THEM.I SAY IF U WANT TO BOWFISH, THEN BOWFISH, BUT ISNT THAT KINDA WASTEFULL. I PERSONALLY DONT AGREE WITH IT, BUT I DONT WANT TO FIGHT. WHY KNOT BOWFISH FOR SNAKES, NOW THAT WOULD BE A SPORT THAT I WOULD BACK.

Because bow fishing for snakes would be like trying to shoot a moving gummiworm with an arrow...I believe that bow fishing is a sport that has its place here on TFF..You can't simply judge a group by one isolated incident. If so, people would jump all over anglers every time a fish dies during release. I don't think that there is anything wrong with bow fishing; it's been around for many years and I don't believe it's going anywhere anytime soon.

If you want to see the pictures go to the lake lavon fishing forum and look under the MISC section...it was bowfisherman, no doubt about it. i took some pictures last night and you can CLEARY see 2 huge holes in each and every fish that is hanging on the trees...

i thought about taking the gar off the trees last night and throwing them all in the weeds so at least something might eat them and they woudlnt just be hanging there....

also, since we cant post pictures of dead gar...does that mean we cant post pictures of other dead fish?....whats the difference in posting a bunch of dead gar as opposed to posting a picture of a cooler full of catfish.....they are both dead fish

LoneStarCarper, please shoot me a photo. Stuff like this is not good. I saw a kid at my local hole catching blue gill & tossing them in a puddle of water.

I came over & asked what he was doing & if he thought the fish would live in the puddle. He said the fish will be OK. I asked him how they'd be when the water dried up? And he didn't respond and walked off. What a weirdo! It sounds like a similar case. People off of their rockers with no mind.

Most likely the cooler full of catfish were harvested to eat, not just waste like the gar in the pic.
