When do you use a straight shank hook?
I always use offset. What am I missing?
PM me to let me know how it was!

T-rigs. Tie it on a snell knot. The hook will pivot upwards into the roof of the mouth most times. (Only will do this when tied with a snell knot) they also seem a lot beefier. They tear up baits more than other style hooks do.

It all depends on the size of the plastic and how much room it needs to wad up in the bend of the hook on the hook set. Most of the time I am going to use the wide gap hook. Depending on the plastic size that would range from a 2.0 up to a 5.0. I have lost too many big fish using the straight shank hook. We have tried the Straight and Off Set in Mexico on over 100 fish per day and there is a big difference in the hook up ratio; between these two and the Wide Gap.

Slowly came around to straight shank only when flipping. The rest of the time it's the new owner jungle wide gap offset

m Nothing I didnt know about the hook popping up, but he did show me a DIFFERENT way to tie a snell. My snell knot is really hard to cut off a hook. His looks like it would cut off easily.

I remember a video of KVD saying he used a straight shank in a lot plastics. Worms, flukes, flipping. I like offset round bends myself but a straight shank is good for flipping

I personally prefer the straight shank worm hook for all applications. I wish Gamakatsu still made the superline hooks in the straight shank.

Does the snell knot hold in grass on Fluoro and braid with out breaking or slipping?
