For those that use them do you change out the hooks? If so to what? I don’t want to put to big of a hook and hurt the action.

I'd throw some owner stingers on there, size 4.

The stock hooks are good enough. The real issue I have with them is the bottom half, with the hooks, separating from the top half that has the paint and line tie! Lol. I’ve lost 3 good fish using the Ike Old Skool colored DT lures. All have split in half , top to bottom.

I like the DT 6 but have had the same problem that Steez mentions. If you look where the bill meets the balsa, it's super thin there which might be why the lure works. But I get a little gun shy throwing it because I've had to many break leaving me with a split ring and plastic bill on the end of the line. I think they need to run a wire from that bill to the back of the bait. At least if it breaks with a fish on, you have a broken lure that still has a fish attached.

If you are digging them into rocks real hard they will eventually break but they have a great action. I go with a size 4 red on the belly and a size 4 nickel on the back. I'm not real brand picky, I prefer owner stingers but the KVD triple grips work perfectly fine as well.

I've caught a ton of fish on them as well, and have broken a few, but I'm draggin it in the rocks - I don't change the hooks.
