It Has a minn Kota 45� shaft foot control on it now which sit�s all the way down to the mount when deployed I�m wanting to upgrade with the Xi5 just worried about having to bend over so far to grab it for stowing was looking at the 54� shaft but worried the longer shaft will interfere with my rods when spider rigging any advice please let me know thank you.

I have the xi5 with a long shaft on a deep v Lund and I spider rig once in a while. I don't have a problem when the trolling is deployed, but when I going to move to another spot I have to remove the shaft that holds the rods on that side to pull the trolling motor up. with that said I wouldn't have any other trolling motor because I have Lowrance fish finders and the trolling motor and electronics are all tied together with NEMA..... I personally would look hard at getting the 54" shaft. The best add on is a Cannondale Lefty Stem used as a handle to retract and deploy the TM without having to grab the head or wires. It will take up a few inches of the shaft length if you get one. You can see it in the following video.



The other thing that is valuable is to have the extra length when it is windy so you can set your TM deeper in the water so it doesn't come out of the water.

I bought the 54"shaft for my G3. The longer shaft comes in handy, especially when I'm running it from the back of the boat. It helps keep the motor in the water on windy days.
