Anybody using these? Pros, cons, thoughts? I have only ever had cheapo wading boots up to this point. These are $100 and they look like they would be worth it. I dont do a ton of wading but i kayak alot and like to get out and portage and fish from the bank, shore, shallows, etc.. Thanks

I have a few pairs of Simms wading boots. The only one I didn't like were the BOA riverteks. Not because they weren't comfortable, but the boa laces failed. My favorites are the G3s because they have great ankle support. Those look like the replacement of the Freestone boots. I have a pair of those as well, but I put studs in them, and only wear them when I need more traction. The "new" Freestones look like they have more ankle support though. I don't think you can go wrong with Simms, as long as they fit you and are comfortable.

Well ... I am a Simms person obviously, and these boots look like a model to replace my old ones - after several years of good hard wear. IMO - I liked lightweight and light colored boots when I was kayaking a lot. Darker colors gather heat like you won't believe. And lightweight flex more at the ankles so you don't stiffen up and perhaps get cramps. Since I am on a skiff a lot now (and another kayak in the quiver), I am looking at their Intruder or Intruder Saltwater these days. No matter what - strongly believe in lighter color will keep your feet from cooking. "Flats Sneaker" looks darn good too.

Thanks for the replys, I guess this is a brand new boot and not a lot of info is out there about it yet. I went ahead and ordered myself a pair to go with my new waders that should arrive today. Hopefully i can update you guys after I head down to the Brazos and test them out as soon as my schedule and the weather will allow. cheers

When the time comes to replace the laces (because the laces on all wading boots suck) order some hockey skate laces - they will last much longer.

Braided nylon rope is also an excellent choice.

Thanks guys i will keep that in mind. I'm hoping my boots fit, my waders fit perfect but the neoprene booties are slightly big in the heel section, I am hoping it doesn't make my boots too tight of a fit, i know i can always return and order a size up on the boots but i don't really want to feel like i am wearing clown shoes. I know the wading boots are oversized about a half size to accommodate the stocking feet so hopefully it is not an issue. Maybe i am over thinking it.

I've found it difficult to find a single pair of boots that work both with and without waders. I think you need at least two pairs of shoes. I have boots to go with my waders, and a pair of sandals to wear when wet wading.

I just got a pair of Simms's flyweight boots for this season. Damn I love them, not sure if they would work for heavy duty wading, but for my applications, which involve hiking to, from, and around Texas streams, they're the bees knees. Much lighter and more of an athletic shoe fit and feel compared with traditional clunky wading boots. My vaporlights which were supposed to be a hybrid between a hiking and wading boot have been relegated to the attic.
