When lake rules state this, is that gas only or does this include no trolling motors?

Anyone know some good lakes around North Texas that don't allow gas motors? I'm picking up a small aluminum boat with trolling motor and want to explore some smaller lakes.

Wheeler Branch down near Glen Rose is a good one, canoes, kayaks, & john boats with electric trolling only allowed I believe. Fun place to fish in the spring & summer for sure.

According to the TPWD, all motorized water craft have to have TX numbers. This includes Trolling Motors. The way I figure it..no trolling motors allowed on that lake.

+1, better to be safe than sorry. If you want a definitive answer you can always call the authority controlling the lake and ask

Per TPWD, trolling motors are allowed on Wheeler Branch. And yes, you would have to have TX #s with a trolling motor.

Wheeler branch is the one that comes to mind, also you can't have a boat with a bilge on it. Think there are some state park lakes that also are electric motor only...

Wheeler Branch did allow outboards since they opened....just couldnt start it! laugh For real. But you have always been allowed and still are to have an electric trolling motor. I have fished it since it opened from a 21 Ranger. Then they became afraid of the zebra mussels and banned any boats with bilge areas. Now only canoes, kayaks and johnboats allowed. I am building a barndominium on a few acres over looking the lake right now and I can look at the lake but cant fish it with my boat. cry Im friends with the superintendent over the Somervell County Water District that owns the lake for water storage and he says it might not work but they have to take whatever steps they can to avoid infestation because of the catastrophic effects they can have on the pumps and pipes. I know they have had a negative effect on the water department for Bridgeport because of the zebra mussels in Lake Bridgeport. In their defense the whole purpose of the lake and the commission is to provide water for the entire county.
