I am looking into a fish finder for my topwater 106. I am interested in what every one else uses, and I'm trying to see what will work for me.

Lowrance elite 4 is a good one for the money....if your looking for side imaging the lowrance elite 7ti is a good one as well. Go for side imaging if you can swing it.

If you can swing it and have the room to mount it, it is a great depth finder.

I have both on seperate kayaks the side imaging is great but the elite4 chirp will get the job done.

Im runny no a Helix 10 Side Image MEGA unit. Id recommend a Helix 7 or 8 G3 Side Image. The 7 has MEGA & the 8 and bigger have MEGA+ If you can swing the 10 that would be even better, IMO.
I've never been good, But I've been Lucky! I don't Lie or Exaggerate, but sometimes I remember BIG!

Whatever you do, I recommend side imaging. As a kayak fisherman, I'm fishing in less than 15 feet of water 99% of the time. Therefore, I wish I had side imaging as the down imaging cone doesn't have the opportunity to get very wide.

There are a lot of small lakes and rivers that are are not more than 15ft, and I love fishing the banks. Side imaging will be a must for me.

I've got a Garmin Striker 7sv side mounted that works pretty well since I have a pedal kayak. If I were to use a standard paddling kayak, I think the larger display would get in the way and be really annoying.
Definitely recommend getting side scan!
