I am wanting to buy a rod for skipping finesse spider jigs, 5/16 and 7/16 oz, under boat docks.
I am trying to decide between the new Falcon Expert rod or the Cara T7 rod. Both series have a Finesse jig rod that is 5 power and 610. Both cost about $200. I know the Expert is new, but just curious if anyone has seen or used one? Any recommendations?

The last Cara I bought was $260 OTD. have the Caras come down in price?
Cara gets my vote either way. I like the reel seats, split grips, and cosmetics of the Cara.

I dont know if prices have changed or not, but I just verified on TackleWarehouse. The Cara is $209 and the Expert is $199 for the Finesse rods. Both rods have split grips. The Expert is new for 2019. Just looking for feedback. Glad to hear you like your Cara...

Cara gets my vote either way. I like the reel seats, split grips, and cosmetics of the Cara. The Cara T7 Micro is around the 260 price. Lower end Cara is in 200 price range. Agree Cara is the way to go, There is one for sale in the classified

I am 51 years old and have a tough time seeing the micro guides to thread my line. I am considering the standard Cara T7 vs the new Expert finesse rod. Thanks for the clarification on the pricing discrepancy.
Regardless of pricing, has anyone used the new Expert series, and if so, what are your thoughts?

I just looked at Tackle Warehouse and the Bryan Thrift skipping rod is classified as Heavy, for 3/8 to 1 oz. Thanks for your suggestion. I skip small finesse jigs under docks on Table Rock, so I need some tip to throw light jigs.

Availability may be the decision maker. New Caras are getting hard to get your hands on.

Thanks Tom. I didnt know that new Caras are scarce. I see you have FalconRods listed under your signature, do you believe they are going to discontinue them, or just strong demand?

Cara's are hard to find in general, but they're worth taking the effort to find.

I handled the new Experts and the new Lowriders this past weekend at the OKC Boat and Tackle Show. Both are made in China from what Falcon said and the Cara will still be made here in the USA. I find it kind of strange that in the old days the Expert was Falcons premier model and the Cara was the next step down and now they have reversed it. The Experts did feel good but I'll stick with my 20 or so Caras. I will say that I may get a couple of the new Lowriders, I think they are going to be a huge hit at the $129.99 price, they are a great feeling rod!

Im going with Caras since thats what I have. Never used an Expert. I honestly probably couldnt tell the difference if I didnt know which was which before you handed me one. There is a guy selling a couple of Cara Finesse Jig rods on here. Might be worth looking into.

I'd go with the Cara. The Experts feel great, and probably will be great. But, if you're going to spend that much on a rod you may as well go with the widely-acclaimed model that has proven itself dependable for the past decade or more.
