I get that people love their brand of truck and I get that Toyota probably has fewer issues. The problem I have is that if I wanted to get 1%? fewer issues, I'd have to drive a Toyota. Not worth it to me.

Well as embarrassing as it may be, and although I love my F150 dearly, here is a photo of some chrome tow hooks on the front of it. I always thought they were for Chevies to pull me out, but I guess it will have to be a Tundra now. Look at all that nasty chrome. I have black ones on mine for Fords and Chevy's

Mine didn't come with them. You had to go up to a lariet to get them.

I got a kick out of their ad showing the new tailgate that drops down slowly on their 2017 models. My 2011 Tundra has that on it as a standard feature. Shows just how far GM is behind Toyota. Except gas mileage. and price. Well you get what you pay for and no trips to the shop ever except regular maintenance. Same on the wife's 2008 Forerunner with 126,000 miles. Sorry but Toyota can't be beat for realibility and resale value. Toyota and Chevy are in a strong race for least innovative in the truck industry. Ford and Ram are running circles around them. As for "you get what you pay for", I don't believe that for a second. The guy who bought my dad's 2013 Tundra new took a bath on it. Bought it new for $40k OTD and traded it in 2 years later for $24k. $700 a month depreciation is nothing to sneeze at. My wife drives a Highlander and I've driven Chevy's since I started driving until the Ram I have now. Neither Chevy or Toyota have ever left me stranded. I think they both make good vehicles. But both need a lot of work to keep up with the power and gas mileage that Ram and Ford are putting out now. The Ram 8-speed and Ford 10-speed have changed the game for people who drive a truck as a commuter vehicle 90% of the time and use it as a truck the other 10%.

Not everyone wants newfangled trucks. The reason Toyota and Chevy are leading in reliability is they have stuck with what has got them there. Give me a V8 that gets good mileage any day over tiny turboed 4 and 6 cylinder engines.

I never understood the innovative argument. We are talking about keeping a truck long term. Once you buy it and it begins to age, their is zero innovation. Who cares what happens to new models after you buy it. Any and all innovation is sacrificed in order to keep something long term.

I got my Yota for 30k it’s 4 years old has 80k on and I am always getting offers for for over $25k for it. Then again it wasn’t built in San Antonio or by Toyota for that matter.
