I know most of the people on this board that fish lewisville are aware of the size and limit retrictions on Hybrids AND FOLLOW THEM. But I am alarmed by the number of people that I see that are catching undersize hybrids and putting them in the box.If you see it please say something.. The lake is there for everyone and I do not won't to sound like a cry baby but the boats that are not regulars are pulling up and getting into fish and I know they are catching hybrids and they are just throwing them in the cooler. We have a opportunity to have one of the top hybrid fisheries in the area in the next 18mths if they do not all get harvested before they reach legal limit. Thee difference is well written in the rules and regs...
Sorry for ramblng but really bothers me!

Trent is on the money, I wonder if the parks people could post a sign by the ramps with the proper pics to show people what to look for.

Proline19 and I watched as TP&W officials wrote a ticket to a boat a few yards from us for having under-sized hybrids in the cooler on Ray Hubbard a couple of weeks ago. Have no idea where they came out of - whoosh, they were just there.

Just remember to avoid Confrontation , I have been told to go **** myself a number of times just write down the TX numbers of the boat and call the warden They might not catch them in the act but at least they will call them and know somebody is looking over thier shoulder

I could not agree more... I think that most folks just dont know. My buddy from Houston honestly could not tell them apart but there are so many sandies in the lake that there is no reason to even think about it if there is any doubt just throw it back and catch another one.
at the risk of stirrin up a storm on here... had a "situation" last week with my buddy we where catching lots of small Hybrids and letting them go, had one about 12 in swallow the humdinger deep. Both of us are ethical and follow the rules to the letter and always have but this fish was done for, so he went into the box... and I am fully aware what would have happend if the Warden had checked me, but I just cant see throwing the fish back in the lake when I know it is already dead.
Crappy situation all around but WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Dude just call operation game thief. Dont write the numbers to the boat down call the hotline that is what it is for. The wardens are patroling the lake. Well they were this last weekend. The only way this is going to stop is if you see illegal fish being kept then call the hotline. After they get the tickets they will learn a lesson. And if more calls are coming then maybe we will see more of the game warden and less poaching. The hotline number is 1-800-792-4263 It is a automated system and will walk you through what you need to do.
Seriously guys exspecially you guides who are out there more you should not hesitate to report this [censored]. Do your part dont try and warn them F*** that it is not worth the hasle or the lip you will get. Call operation game thief that is what it is for.

"Life is too short to fish only weekends", that is why i fish about 300 days a yr, even if it's just for lunch or an hour out my day on the way home from work, be it day or night!

Those undersize hybrids will run you $500 a fish if caught. Unless you've got more money then I do that might keep you from putting that under-size one in the cooler, no matter what the condition.
One of the wardens over at Tawakoni caught 2 people that had 12 undersize fish and 2 legal ones. They got fined $500 x 12 then another $500 x 4 for being over the limit. If my calculator is correct, that's $8,000!!!!! Whether the judge actually let that fine stand I have no idea. I hope he did.
The warden himself told me about this, while he was checking me. I had 2 that were over 23 inches. I also had one, 22 inches, that had hybrid stripes and body but a single sandbass tongue patch. He said as far as he was concerned it was a sandbass. They go by the tongue patches.

How close to you need to be to tell if someone caught a hybrid or not? Are you binoc'in them? As pointed out, some already have trouble identifying them when in the boat.
Just wondering.

What I meant was if the wardens were not on the lake at that time they still find out who it was and contact them. But yes, if you see it, call them right away.
