Thinking like this is why he won't be s successful NFL coach. He isn't a number 1 overall pick.

Kingsbury cant win in the big 12, and we dont even play defence

How ever the Holly Sonders pick might be a solid one.

It would really surprise me if he doesn't get picked in the first round. He may never perform up to first round value, but i think someone will try it out.

huh?
1. I am not a "JP OG" - the first time i ever communicated with JP was last year, not that its any of your concern anyway.
2. You and i HAVE interchanged a few times, mostly on Dez topics.
3. Sorry, i clearly underestimated how sensitive you are. I wasn't even trying to insult you ... all i was saying was my opinions routinely differ from yours, however on this topic we agree

Kiper picked Matt Leinart , Vince Young and Jake Locker as can't miss 1st rounder's too. Sometimes you just don't know. Johnny Unitas was a 9th round pick. Bart Starr wasn't drafted until the 17th round. Sometimes you just don't know.

Whether or not any of these guys actually pan out is a total carp-shoot - Kiper is good a predicting where they will go. Nobody is good at predicting how they actually do, including the NFL execs and talent scouts.

In the 5 years from 2010 to 2014 there were 14 QBs taken in the first round. I picked that timeframe because there's enough data to really evaluate them ...

Arguably only 4 of the 14 have played up to 1st round expectations - QBR>85, and good consistent starter. That list is Newton, Luck, Tannehill, Bridgewater - that's only 28.5% accuracy by the pros!
3 of the 14 have good QBR numbers but never lived up to 1st round expectations: Bradford qbr 84.5 but is always hurt, RG3 qbr 88.2 but hasn't been a starter, and bortles qbr of 80.6, meh
7 of the 14 - 50% - had career qbr < 80 that list includes Tebow, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder, Weedon, Manuel, and Manziel

So its a gamble no matter how you look at it.

You'll be flattered to know Ted I actually agree with you. I think a lot of the success the Cowboys had with draft picks in the past had a lot to do with Gil Brandt and the methods he used. But it is as you said a carp shoot as to how they actually perform over the years. Players like Larry Allen, Rayfield Wright and Jason Witten are examples of players who weren't 1st rounder's but had long all pro careers. The combine doesn't always prove anything either. Murray will no doubt enter the draft, ego if nothing else will determine that. The idea of him going in the 1st round and starting as a rookie makes no sense to me when there are much better options in the draft at QB. Why would you take a 5'-7 QB when there is a 6'-3 Haskins with the same skills. I would take Will Grier ahead of Murray. I'm not involved in the draft in any form and all I have is an opinion which is actually meaningless but is just as good as anyone else's. Good job with your research, who woulda thought Bradford's career would end up like it did. Another Heisman bust.

Bradford's career earnings so far in the NFL are about $130 million dollars, wish I could've been a bust.

I will say if Holly Sonders isn't a 1st round pick there is something wrong with the draft

definitely. that's an example of why it makes good $$ sense on Kyler's part to pursue the NFL option; even if he is a first round bust he could still rake the cash.

I didn't think JFF (Manziel) would be good in the NFL, but if he didn't act like an entitled booze-hound and shoot his own feet off, his worst case would have been making millions holding a clipboard on sundays.
