I'm curious, why does hardly anyone ever say Conroe on these threads?
Warm climate, sort of close to the coast, close enough to College Station, just far away enough from Houston

If I'm retiring single Rayburn or Toledo... If I'm married Fork, Richland Chambers or Cedar Creek. The wife will want to be within hour of the big city amenities and wife will want place where she can enjoy swimming in the lake.

I have a second home/retirement home on Bob Sandlin and love it. Very close to lots of lakes if I get tired of fishing Sandlin. We spend about 50% of you time out there.

I been on Lake Buchanan for 25 years, it has plenty of room to roam, good fishing, plenty of places to get in the water and cool off. Lake LBJ has good fishing but get'ts way to crowded in the summer and Marble Falls is too small.

Expensive, tough bass fishing lake, overcrowded Spring-Fall by monster boats, wake boats, and jet skis. That's why I wouldn't say it. I don't even know how many times I've been on Rayburn in my lifetime, but it has to be over a thousand- can count the wake boats I've seen there on one hand. And the fishing is awesome.

Conroe is Houston now. Traffic is terrible.

That's what I suspected.
I'll cross Conroe off the list.

Good scene around Texoma, would probably be pick #1, #2 would be Richland Chambers, land is more affordable and nobody uses the the lake especially during hunting season you have it all to yourself...
