Looking to take my son to a cold water lake. What would be the best place to go tomorrow and catch some fish?

Virtually all of them are cold water lakes right now. You got plenty of choices.
PK is typically a decent cold water lake.

My first thoughts were Athens or Fairfield considering your location

Basically as far south within reasonable driving distance to a lake with good grass

No it was his birthday and he decided to go fish a pond near by they stock with trout. He caught 5. His birthday his choice. I would have rather gone to a lake.

Today was a perfect day to fish. 3rd day of a warming trend. Light winds. Pre front.

Too bad I had to make money.

Happy Birthday to the young angler.
