I see alot of people talking about putting brush piles/ condos in different lakes. What are the rules/laws regarding this? Where can you find information on this? I would like to try this but I also do not want a ticket! HELP???

Option 1: Check with the governing body that controls your proposed lake (i.e. Corp of Engineers) Ask them if it's legal to do so.

Option 2: Don't ask, don't tell.

Good luck.

Best deal is to go to www.tpwd.state.tx.us and look up the lake. You'll find the contact info for the governing body of the lake. They will let you know the regulations for sinking structure in that lake.

i am with the Office of Brush Piles and General Debris (OBPGD) within the Texas Fish and Game Department, you need to register the coordinates of any brush or structure you sink with me. send me an email and i'll make sure its registered with the state. oh course, i sometimes get called out to audit the brushpile by confirming its location and whether or not it holds fish.

Did what you suggested, found out 99 % of the lakes around here do not allow it, of any type! Interesting to say the least!

Bring them to my house, I'll find a home for them.

That's why they call it fishing and not catching!

Make sure you don't get caught or you'll be donating some $$$$ to your local county offical. That $tinks!

It amazing that some folks will disregard a rule or restriction for their benefit. It's no different than keeping undersize fish or over your daily bag limit...or should we just "do it at night" so we don't get caught?

OldSaltDawg, that is hilarious. Well done.

Keeping undersized fish does not let them grow to a catchable size. Planting brushpiles create habitat which in return gives safety and forage to fish. Are you really comparing these two things?
