Make it looser? Yes, that'll do. It doesn't take much oil though. It'll be a bigger trick to firm it up, if it lasts till spring. Yes, I'm one of those that has difficulty finding his own cattails...(classic punch bait thickener).

fish oil would be better IMO
If it ain't broke don't fix it...but go ahead and work on it anyway.....

I just use a little lake water to limber mine up. I have used beer, but that was too much emotionally.
