We found the same thing on Canyon Lake albeit about 50 years ago. Same time of the year too.
They were stuck pretty good and when we finally took them apart they were the same size and they swam away just fine.

I found one trying to eat a big tilapia once floating we got the tilapia out it was dead but the bass about 4lbs swam off

Do you think they were going for the same prey and just ended up like that? Yes.... happens allot on lakes filled with spots that feed in frenzys I think
