I have a question for guys running the Ultrex utilizing the link with Humminbird. I currently use Lowrance HDS units and I am very happy with them. I have decided to drop my Motorguide digital tour and make the switch to the Ultrex based on feedback read on the TFF. My question: Is it worth it to switch to a Humminbird unit at the same time? Do the extra features available warrant the money in your opinion?

To me, no, it's not.

Not to me. I had everything linked up, Ultrex, Humminbirds, 360, and Talons. I never used the follow the contour. It was handy sometimes to hit go to a waypoint. I just switched to Lowrance graphs and am much happier. Wish I didnt have an Upltrex with the link.

There are some convenient and cool features with the trolling motor linked to the graphs but I would not recommend changing graphs just for those extra features. You will love spot lock!

I would pay the extra for the link whether or not you switch to Humminbird.

That way you leave the option open for a Humminbird in the future without buying a new Ultrex.

Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

That's a thought John. I do think it's kind of funny that a $2k+ trolling motor doesn't have that feature included for the same price.
Thanks again for the help fellas.

Thanks again guys. I am going to place my order Monday for the unit without link. I am real attached to my Lowrance units and don't see myself switching. To hear that a lot of guys that have the Humminbird units don't use the contour seals the deal.

I originally bought a link ultrex and 3 Helix units. I could not stand the Helix stuff, so I replaced with Gen2s then Carbons. Best of both worlds and never really used the link option. I do like the link remote though.
