I knew better but went anyway. Fished the big bridge from 11 a.m. until almost dark. It was gloomy and then rainy. I was definitely around bait and fish. They just never turned on for me. Had one bite all day, got it to the surface, reached for camera instead of net and got this pic. bang roflmao

It looked to be around 5 lbs and thought it was hooked good on 5 inch flutter spoon.. came up like a wet rag, laid over, and so I reached for camera.. it came alive before I could get it and threw the spoon back at me.

I tried dragging a small straight tail worm on carolina rig, all kinds of plastic on texas rig, deep cranking as slow as I could, I even tried dead sticking one of Joe Spaits tiny one inch lead jigs.. nothing. Fish were mostly suspended at 16 feet and deeper. Thought for sure they would turn on at some point and stayed around the bridge. Saw two boaters all day and one bank fisherman. First time Monty has ever skunked me.

I did clean up bottom of some of the broke off lines from the bank fishermen as I was hung up a lot. Pic below is of my biggest haul ever of lead. Didn't realize until after I took picture that there was still more attached hanging in water. Water temp was 51, but not as stained as I was expecting.

Almost forgot, met a lady at bridge that was posting a sign of her missing dogs. She said they were very tame and someone might have thought they were lost and took them as she doesn't keep them penned up.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I looked for you yesterday at Martin Creek. It was about the same fishing but windy. I did actually hook a big one that wrapped around a log or stump.
I used the swimbait you gave me but no bites.

Lets go fishing

Good report and you gave it a shot. thumb

I just can't even face it anymore without the Plant running and the lower water level.

Only memories for Monti but looking forward to some 2019 trips in East Texas starting in February.

The lake is as full as I've ever seen it. Betting that the fishing is awesome this spring.
