i am a terrible online shopper but have not seen any decent fly equipment in Bass Pro Garland. I heard cabelas in Allen might but last time there I could not find a single person that knew anything. I bought a crystal river rod, reel , line , leader and a few flies for $24.95. I thought it was good enough til I tried a friends set up. No I want a little better combo. Echo, Shakespaere sigma?. TFO , and store around i can hold a combo ?? Looking to drop $100 plus or minus. Any help appreciated if you pm me or text/call me at 972 740 1243. Meaning to hit the Tyler fly club but when I remember it just passed date.

Just my IMO... but it might hard to get a decent "combo" for less around $100. Good fly lines alone can be found for $50 give or take, but that's the least expensive part of the equation. TFO may have a rod for less than $100. You can probably use your reel you currently have, since it's more of a line holder for 5 wts or smaller, unless your are targeting carp..

thx BoPro wound up ordering a Sougayilang Polish ? ) fly combo. They charged tax which i was surprised . Not ordering online if i dont have to. The rod, reel, backing, wff line, leader weird piece to attach something a box of flies and a hard case was $94 . I had to flip the reel as I am a lefty but with you tube it was easy ( even for me ). Hope to get it functional tonight and hit some gills tomorrw ( tail end of full moon phase. ) .will report the good, bad and ugly

Sorry to come in late; hope you got started ok. There a number of great starter sets already put together with quality, name brand products. Echo, Orvis, Reddington, and TFO are great starter sets. The bass fly rod specialty website for go-to stuff is Bass on the Fly; this question comes up all the time. The fly line can make all the difference; agree with BoPro that a good line under $40 is very rare; many are $80-$100. The line really needs to be a weight forward line or it won't turn over the large flies you need. Get some casting lessons off the web and practice on grass before going to the water; I da*n near quit at first because I tangled so much in nearby vegetation.
