Nice think about fishing today...new Texoma license good for 365 days Went out today to work on my dead sticking and it was good Got lucky when I set up on a spot and drifted it... Started in 30 and drifted all the way across the lake Had a huge school of fish under me the whole time Drop a Mag Fluke on 1oz head...count to 15..Bam! Got on on every drop til they scattered...Ran around trying To recreate this to no luck...tried a few humps and points with nothing Was heading in and few birds fired up righ in front of HP Stuck with the dead stick and it was good again...pulled 3-4 more fish and called It a day... No big fish today....biggest was 8lbs or so Guess I will dead stick some this year!
Take a rubber mallet or an old rod butt with you next time. When the fish start to scatter, gently thump the deck of your boat. You might like the results.

I'm no deadsticking expert but in my few years of experience it does seem like a good day deadsticking comes down to one or two good drifts. I've had numerous times that, after a productive drift, I've gone right back to where I started and for whatever reason the drift success can't be recreated.
On 12/30 I was over near the cross and had to head back to highport. Had struggled my way to 25 fish. While on plane a buddy saw a concentration of birds enough that even though it was getting late we had to check it out. Fish were suspended at 20-25 ft in 70+ FOW. Day went from average to very memorable as we went from 25 or so to 50+ in about 30 minutes.
My first time catching striper in 70+ FOW.

That deadsticking is such an uncomfortable way to fish for me, because of my impatient nature. But, some of my best fish were caugh when I was doing something else with the lure just sitting there. I'll have to really try it, with intent next time I'm out.
Thanks for posting. tim
