Good Morning everyone,
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and tonight a safe New Years. Mother nature has done it again, just when I though we would get a good stretch of weather another cold front decides to make it's way down to South Texas. Last week we had air temps in the 70's and 80's that caused our water temps to rise in the mid 60's which pushed a lot of the female fish up shallow. The last 3 days we had a front come thru with high winds and air temps at night in the upper 30's and mid 40's during the day, dropping our water temps below 60 again. Oh well, I guess we play the hand we've been dealt.

I spent the last two days with Robert Moseley, owner of Viper Rods, and Justin Crawford with Crawford's Fishing on Lake Fork. It was cold, windy, and a little wet but we braved Falcon Lake with a few other boats and let me tell you, she sure didn't disappoint. On the 29th we had around 30 fish that day which was a big surprise to me due to the conditions and on day two we only fished 4 hrs and called it a day with about 10 fish.

We found a really strong shallow bite the first day, with the majority of the fish coming off a 6th sense divine swim jig. But we could also catch them flipping Texas rigged lizards and 1/2 oz. jigs with a trimmed skirt and cut down trailer. On day two, we pulled off into the main creek channels, the fish were sitting in the middle of the drains and could be caught on C-rigs with a Keitech swimbait and 5xd crankbaits in sexy shad or similar patterns.

As far as the lake goes the water level is 278.94 and that is about 22.25 ft below full pool. I hope the information helps. Have a great New Year's Eve and stay safe.

Cool fish with the black spots. I've caught a few like that and always wanted to catch a really big one and have a replica made of it.

Anytime Donald. @Texan yeah I think if that fish was 2 lbs heavier Robert would have had a replica made.
