The boy and I stopped by Gibsons and grabbed some red wigglers and headed over to New Ingram Lake. Did not take the sonar so IDK the water temp, but the air temp was 41. Launched at the public ramp and headed as far upstream as the rapids...started fishing right after 3pm. Fished with generic bobber and split shot rig for 40 minutes or so, tossing the worm into fishy looking spots.

Had a few bites, but real inconsistent and did not land anything. So, I threw the bobber on the floor of the boat and cast out. As soon as the split shot hit the bottom -- tap! tap! tap! But I missed him. Told the boy to switch and i caught fish 1 and the boy had one just a second or two later. Between 3:51 and 5:00 we boated 8 fish and missed several others. Bite was still going strong, but the boy was getting cold (it was drizzling a bit and down to 40*), I am sure in the 30 minutes before sunset we could have gotten another 4-6 fish. The boy is getting better.

Great 2 or so hours on the lake. Some kayakers were out and someone was running a jug line, but they were in the main part of the lake opposite of us. Mostly dinks, but one nice one that pulled a little drag. Since I didn't have any pics from my sheepshead report, I took pics of all but the one fish the boy caught as I was releasing mine. Enjoy.

Nice variety of fish! Good job guys, catching some fish in some difficult weather conditions. thumb

Side Note: I usually have the best winter results fishing without a float. Sunfish seem to be more on the bottom hanging around brush piles or ledges. Usually hard to find suspended this time of year. cheers

Thanks for the replies.

The boy has come a long way. From not really enjoying fishing and having to be dragged to tying his own line (not well yet), baiting his hook, getting his fish off and wanting to go at the drop of a hat.

I am thankful to TFF and forum members that have been so helpful.
