The rattle trap is a great lure. Pretty much my mainstay December-mid February.

If I am not flipping docks then my go to bait is a rattletrap type for the docks. It is my favorite bait for fishing dams or riprap because you can let it fall along the contour to the depth you are looking for to start your retrieve. That helps keep your bait in the strike zone longer especially when fishing parallel.
I fish on the edge and stay out of the middle
