I have tried a couple different hand warmers and found that they put out very little heat. Maybe if you kept in a glove they would be ok, but I am looking for something I can put into a cold hand than will feel warm and help warm the hand up. Used one yesterday, low 40's with 12mph wind, and had to place hands under jacket with the warmer to keep them from being cold. Even tried shaking it several times while I was fishing so got plenty of air. Tried another brand and it basically did nothing.
What brand do you find that works.

My go to are hot hand foot warmers. The work very well for my feet and keep them toasty throughout my fishing trip.

If you were referring to Hot Hand brand warmers, I tried them and they are junk. Could barely feel the warmth with large size in my hands inside my jacket.
Are there any of these warmers that work or do I need to look for the charcoal sticks to go into the old style warmers?

I wear liner socks couple with feet warmers under a wool socks. That kept both my feet toasty even in sub 30s temperature. As for hand warmers, I have yet to find one that works good especially when wet.

FOR YOUR HANDS...
There is nothing better than Zippo rechargeable hand warmers.
They come in 2 sizes and are, without a doubt, the very best solution for keeping your hands warm, even when wet.
you have 2 ears and 1 mouth, use them in that proportion - my granddad #fishhard #fishoften #fishon - me

I have glacier flip mitts, but my fingers get cold when they are wet. I tried putting the hand warmers in a small ziplock bag to keep them dry and occasionally opening the bag to let fresh air in, It was mid 50s and when picked up hand warmer it did not even feel warm. The idea of having any type of device with a flame/lighter fluid near my waders or on my kayak is not appealing to me. After reading some reviews, I think I will probably go with the old style solid fuel type.
I have not tried the foot warmers in between layers of wool socks yet in my stockingfoot waders. So far liner sock and 2 layers of wool socks has been keeping toes warm. Will try this out if going out below 40 degrees.
