You should set up website and/or a PayPal Account for payments online. Fast, convienant on both ends of the sale, and no trips to the bank or waiting on a check to clear. I am going to buy a couple gallons regardless, but if I was looking for bait and had never heard of you, I would buy online using PayPal from elswhere over mailing in a check and waiting five or six weeks vs five or six days for delivery. Not at all trying to tell you how to run your business, just a consumer's point of view.
I will never skin another possum, de-horn another cow, or barr another hog-----everything else is price negotiable!

I have sold several things online and the only time any problems cropped up is when checks were dealt with. I much prefer money orders, they are traceble and if things don't turn out you can get your money back. Paypal is anti- hunting/ anti-gun and I prefer not to deal with them. I once had a Paypal account and my information security was compromised so never again.

Convenience is one important key to business. If you are going to market an e-business, it needs to be instant in transaction. You can get more sales by eliminating extra steps in the purchasing process. I know grabbing a money order seems like a easy thing to do. But if someone has to get up and go to the store or post office to get one, a factor has just been created that may discourage a sale. In my opinion, some sort of secure online paying process will give you more sales. When I shop e-bay, If the seller requires a money order, I pass for a seller who takes the pay pal. Call me lazy, but it is much easier to punch buttons on the computer than getting a money order and sending it snail mail. Thank goodness I don't live far from Alvarado. If this stuff works well, I'll pick some up when I head through there. Good Luck.

Well your probably right. I just will not deal thru a business that is anti-hunting and anti-gun. Who knows if they are against using lead sinkers? My day to day routine is pretty intense yet I have no problem stopping at Citgo and getting a money order. I prefer meeting people anyway, seems a far better way to do business.

The best way to market your bait is to send samples to local guides and let them use it. If it is as good as you say it is then I am sure you will get orders for more. What better way to market your bait. The guide takes out different customers each trip. And your bait is being marketed and proven it works on each trip. Once the word is out I would start hitting up the bait shops. And of course do a website and sell it direct. Also you can buy spots in magazines like infisherman and texas lakes and bays. That is once the product has taken off and will cover the marketing cost. Good luck and hope you do well with your product.

The marinas and bait shops could probably move smaller sized buckets. Do you do ones smaller than gallons?

hmm.. cool thread! Should be re-titled "how to get orders quickly". Sounds like a great bait, get it in the local bait shops, prove it will actually sell and make you a profit in your time, etc. Be prepared to give the big stores a 50-60% discount, and also be prepared to buy back any unsold product over a period of time, say 3 months. Good luck!

I wasn't refering to PayPal specifically. I was just using them as an example from my E-baying. There are other ways to set up a credit card sales capability with some expenses of course. I totally understand what you are saying about keeping it on a personal level. It is always nice to be able to interact directly with the customer base to show appreciation for the support. I was suggesting another way to maximize sales if you want this venture to really grow to the point of outselling BR or Sure-shot. So far it looks like the interest is there. Now you just need the product in the hands of the customers who can prove it in the public. Good Luck.
