I have a friend that told me that the hydrilla is making a comeback at Martin Creek. Kinda hard for me to believe. Has anybody been there lately? Any truth to that rumor?

Camped and fished there this past spring.
Saw lots of hydrilla....no big mats, but clumps.

lots of hydrilla, I have been out there a few times the past few months and the hydrilla is strong on the dam end, no grass in the hot water.

Thanks for the info. How far toward the hot end does the grass grow?

Grass goes all the way to the walls at the entrance to the hot water, but it is thicker south of the bridge,

I'm curious, is MC considered more of a numbers lake for bass? Smaller but with a big population? Or is it a fairly "meh" lake for bass?

There are plenty of good fish in MC. My best 5 the other week would have gone for 24# and I probably caught around 20 between 6:30-10:30. Last time out sucked though and only boated 3 fish. I dont know that any of the fish I caught would have been under 2#, but they have topped out at 6#. This is my first year going out there and I have only been out 3 times. I am little disappointed in the lack of deep structure, at least that I have found, but if beating the bank and constantly moving is your thing then it can be fun.

Just an observation but if all three stacks are making clouds then expect a good bite. If none of the stacks are smoking then go home. I fish Martin mostly during the week and sometimes you might not see another boat but as for the weekends it just depends how many tournaments are there. Now through March it can get really crowded on weekends.

It used to be great for numbers, and relatively easy to catch a 20-25 pound limit. After the grass died off, in my opinion it really sucked, and I quit going. I do have one more question about the hydrilla there now: how deep is it on the outside edge?

Hydrilla has become pretty thick along with Lilly pads. I think the bow fisherman have about got the tilapia under control. Someone correct me if Im wrong if youve been out there lately but Im pretty sure the bass are spawning right now so beating the banks should turn out A+

Cast it, reel it, jerk it.

Grass goes out to 9-10 ft in the areas I have fished.

The tilapia are still thick in the hot water. I caught one 6" bass in the hot water in hours of fishing it each trip. I also watched a guy catch quite a few tiny bass in a school by the discharge but nothing I would have stayed around for.

I haven't seen any spawning, would think February would be closer to spawn time based on the ones I have caught. Here is one from the grass a few weeks ago.
