It's been slow banking it in our cove and off our point on the East side of the lake, typical November/December pattern.

Last weekend with cut buffalo and chicken hearts drew the skunk. Left rods out for three days.

Nothing at all this Saturday afternoon 12/22, not even any fish breaking the surface. Left rods out in the cove and on the point. By this afternoon, I got a couple pound eater blue on a shiner under a float in the cove, and pulled in an 11 pound blue off the point on a big gizzard shad head on a Santee Cooper rig. Both in maybe 5 FOW. Fish were more active Sunday afternoon with several breaking the surface.

By 2 this afternoon I had a good looking 12-pounder on cut shad off the point. Again, 5 FOW or so. It was the south side of the point today, the 11-pounder yesterday came off the north side. Neighbors a little further north were catching some eaters in the couple pound range from the bank, but otherwise things were slow. Four rods out with cut shad, three still had bait and the fourth had this fish......

And for the record, Santa, feel free to put a 50 or 60 pounder on the end of one of my lines tonight. grin

Got my present, sort-of. smile

24-pounder from the channel between the main lake body and our cove sometime overnight or this morning. Large gizzard shad head, Santee Cooper rig, 5-6 FOW.

Also a 5-ish pounder off the point on cut shad, again 5-6 FOW. Neighbors had some more eater blues. Seems like they are spread out and maybe foraging, not many hits one right after another. If you are fishing with big baits and time isn't a factor, the blues are somewhat consistent in the 10-25 pound range in the shallows over the past few days.
