Made a trip back to Holly Beach the day before yesterday (19DEC18) hoping to see some reds crawling along the shoreline of the spoils. My son spotted the first red about five minutes after we arrived while wading. He made 2-3 cast and then the red got spooked. A few minutes later I saw one but could never get close enough to cast. Both reds seemed to be in the upper slot range. Eventually, the tide began to rise and the water around the spoils got murky so we decided to drift. Right away we hooked up to a 21" red. We ended up with one undersized red and four lower slot reds. We kept the first one and released the rest. Tried casting a few different lures but it seemed all they wanted on this particular day for us is a 1/8 oz Johnson Weedless Gold Spoon. (Spooked several reds in the lower to middle slot range while we drifted.) We were drifting in 1-3 ft of water from the spoils towards the shoreline. I attached a link of a video of our trip. Hope you enjoy and if you like it don't forget to subscribe. Thanks for taking the time to read this report. Be safe out there and God Bless.
